Everything we know about bespoke shoemaking and “the perfect Chelsea Boot” went into this shoe. Why did we choose a Chelsea Boot as our second ready-to-wear model? Because it’s the perfect winter shoe. For the office, for Christmas, with a sharp suit, with jeans. And it’s so darn easy to slip into.
Our wholecut Chelsea is made from one piece of leather and therefore almost without stitches. Ideal for ladies and gents. No frills, no pompoms, no bells and whistles - just the beauty of a perfectly shaped shoe.
The only “extra” thing about it, is its slightly tapered heel - a small hommage to our eternal love for cowboy boots. Elegant in its simplicity, with a focus on the important things:
- Can I go from High Tea at Blakes to crashing an office christmas party at the Firehouse?
- Do I finally pass as an actual customer on Savile Row?
- And are these boots truly made for walking?
The answer is of course: yes. And with the right care, for a lifetime. Thanks to its closed channel the sole gets its perfectly smooth surface even though it is hand-stitched. Welting and outsole stitching of the boots is done entirely by hand. Each of the approximately 250 stitches is pre-punched with an awl and then stitched by hand. You can see the waxy thread of the outsole stitching on top of the sole, between in- and outsole there are around 70 more welt-stitches that can only be identified by absolute connoisseurs after years of wearing.
The holdfast that is stitched to upper and welt is cut from the insole of this Chelsea boot, just like we do on bespoke shoes. Such an elaborate method of making is unique outside the world of bespoke shoemaking in Germany and corresponds to our claim to build a shoe that can be worn for a lifetime.
